If we follow Christ, we're not called to be victims of delusion wandering aimlessly through a meaningless span of time, but rather clear minded and victorious soldiers of Christ's own calling - following a path that He charted and illuminated for us. If we follow Him, we fall not... because He stands in victory, we faint not... because He raised to life... and we live in eternal promise... because He lives forever. He's made both the truth and the path available to us and we're now made accountable for our response. In truth, only laziness or foolishness could be our answer for failing to follow Him when He calls us to account for it.
(Jesus speaking) 24“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. 25 Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. 26 But anyone who hears my teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. 27 When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.” Matthew 7:24-27 (NLT)
...There's navigation through this life that answers those questions and so many more. But it's wisdom defies the world's wisdom at times and it conflicts with a lot of the world's reasoning intellect. It calls for us to be different than the world - to go a different direction. The differences between this navigation and the world's reasoned wisdom are easy to explain - the wisdom of men is contrived by men among themselves... and the wisdom of the navigation I speak of is that of the Sovereign God who created them. Which one do you trust - the created or the Creator? Our current path tells our story.
"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." Revelation 4:11 (KJV)
These truths easily fit together...
(Jesus speaking) 13“You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. 14 But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it. Matthew 7:13-14 (NLT)
1 "So we must listen very carefully to the truth we have heard, or we may drift away from it. 2 For the message God delivered through angels has always stood firm, and every violation of the law and every act of disobedience was punished. 3 So what makes us think we can escape if we ignore this great salvation that was first announced by the Lord Jesus himself and then delivered to us by those who heard him speak?" Hebrews 2:1-3 (NLT)
In my heart, I desire that none perish, but instead that Father God receive to Himself all the rightful fruit of His labors of love. But we're given a choice to obey - truly following... or to choose lip service while truly following our own path. From cover to cover - Genesis to Revelation, the truth is within our reach. It's on bookshelves, end tables and even on the internet. So we more than some others before us, are without acceptable excuse and accountable to Holy God.
1 "This is what the LORD says: “Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. Could you build me a temple as good as that? Could you build me such a resting place? 2 My hands have made both heaven and earth; they and everything in them are mine. I, the LORD, have spoken! “I will bless those who have humble and contrite hearts, who tremble at my word. 3 But those who choose their own ways— delighting in their detestable sins will not have their offerings accepted..." Isaiah 66:1-3 (NLT)
He doesn't change - He hasn't changed. What His heart loved, He loves and what He's despised among men, He despises still. One day, only He knows when, we'll face Him...
I pray sincerely that you're able to be greeted with open arms.
Micah 6:8 "No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God."
