Perspective's Resolve (Reposted from Nov. 2014)

 Lord,

In your great presence I am far too small to be counted.
I’m a mere speck under the foot of a towering giant.
I’m an ordinary grain among the sands of the oceans.
And you Lord, are the waters of the seas that move me at will.
I’m helpless against you and wholly dependent on your mercy.
I’m common and short of greatness, destined for obscurity.

But by loving grace alone I’m now chosen to become more.
Through the fire of your spirit I’m refined and made molten.
Shaped by your own Holy breath, you call me now special.
With praise and thankfulness I am transformed to have worth
And with others I’m now cast as a part of the Kings cup.
Now, so honored to bring sweet wine of loving gratitude to your lips

Let my praises forever exalt your glorious wonders,
For against you there are none worthy to compare.
You’re the source of all that is good, righteous and holy.
Your vast compassion, beyond the explanation of men.
You lift up the humble and soon humiliate the proud.
You alone stand in the sovereign judgment of worth.

I’m like a blade of grass before the roaring flames of a furnace.
I could not hope to defend myself against your terrible power.
At only your will I could vanish in smoke and exist no more
And my name would soon fade to never be heard again.
The hope of my life could disappear as though I never existed
And among the hoards of humanity I would not long be missed.

But you, you know my name Lord and you’ve written it down.
You sing it over me in sweet songs of endearment.
Though of my own accord, I have no acclaim on the earth
And in the heavens, bear no right before angels,
You lift me up above my own worthiness and call me your own.
You speak my name before the angels to call me your beloved.

The elation of salvation soon leaves me broken and humble.
For I know that I could never bear the payment of what I have
Earned and I could never earn what I have been freely given.
As a man, I know not even the full weight of my own sin
For it is both known and unknown to my limited mind.
You are my judge, knowing all, yet having forgiven, remembering none.

Men judge by what they know and you by what they cannot,
Your mind and standards being beyond the limitations of men.
When judgment is finished and the earth rolled up like a scroll
Some among the greatest minds of men will have fallen
Both prey and victims of their own wisest reason and judgment.
All knowing then, without need to reason, that you alone are God.

I will not protest for what I deserve, nor assert my right.
For what I rightfully deserve is beyond my ability to bear.
And your loving kindness is more worthy than any treasure by far
Your loving arms about me keep me safe far beyond peril
And all that I have in you, I could not even conceive to ask.
Worthless made worthy, pauper made prince, my God calls me friend.

So I stand now trembling in reverent fear of your sovereign power,
Yet still resting peacefully, well protected by your unending love.
One free to choose on the earth is now made slave of love by choice.
Your grace is my blanket, your mercy, my pillow while I await your return.
My eternal employ, chosen with grateful and loving resolve is clear -
To bring unending joy and a smile to your face, the God of my heart.

This "Christ"mas...

"And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,  Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." Luke 2:8-14 (NKJ) As "Christ"mas approaches it usually finds me refreshing my knowledge and understanding of what I believe that it is that we as "Christ"ians should be celebrating in our observation of the event of Christ's birth. I do this in ...

If I Worry At All...

For the last year I've been engaged in a writing project that requires me to answer a series of questions posed over the fifty two weeks of the year. My answer to the last question that I chose to answer is one that I decided to share because it's always on my heart and mind... What do you worry about? I know that worrying itself changes nothing but there are some things that cause me deep worry. And of those particular things, there are none that I have the power to change on my own, but they are instead those that I have to appeal to Christ’s mercy to intercede. I have deep worry for the souls of all of my loved ones because I know that despite all that we might find concern for in our passing through of this world, there’s only one account that will, for all time, require an answer from all of us. That response, having already been made while we journeyed here, will leave us without further opportunity to answer. Our choice, made in this current life, will leave us either pr...

Beware Of Available Poison

"Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world." 1 John 4:1 (NKJV) At the risk of sounding like the proverbial broken record, I can't help feeling the urge to repeat a common theme of a number of my previous posts. I feel driven to repeat it especially in these last days when the continually changing circumstances around us may leave us searching for the low hanging fruit of easy comfort in words that may tend to soothe us, but lack the proper context that they were intended by God to be carried in.. What I say here is more intended toward those that have not exercised diligence in consuming for themselves what the Lord has given us in scripture, scripture that has the ability to bless us in so many ways when rendered as The Author intended. Not the least of these is the ability to spot inaccurate, and even boldly spoken, false teachings of the day. Keep in mind that the enemy...
