Higher Economics

"ECONOMY | definition in the Cambridge English Dictionary Cambridge

https://dictionary.cambridge.org › dictionary › economy — the system of making money and producing and distributing goods and services within a country or region"

Mankind has been concerned with the available prosperity to be found in the economy that he inhabits in the world around him from the earliest recognition of his own want and need. The world's economic interests have, over time, spawned every imaginable financial mechanism from organized employment, to banks, to wall street and a plethora of financial oligarchy's. The primary medium, conveyance, or currency for exchange in the majority of today's world economies is of course money. Apparently most consumed by one degree or another of greed for money and material gain have forgotten that there is a higher economy and that its currency is of far greater value. That economy is an institution that far preceded and still overrules man's completely.

Mankind seems to have largely forgotten that he trades in things that don't actually belong to him. The everything that men seek after, squabble over, hoard, cherish, steal and even murder to gain ... belong to someone else, someone much higher and influential than mankind. Truth is, there's nothing that mankind has ever taken possession of or constructed from that didn't come from something that the God Of Creation didn't actually create -absolutely nothing.

"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Genesis 1:1 (NKJ)

“You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.” Revelation 4:11

In God's economy mankind's money and material wealth has no value - zero, none. In fact mankind's money and material gain has the potential to devalue what God values most. Things of eternal value in His economy.

"For I desire mercy and not sacrifice, and the knowledge of God more than burnt offerings."  Hosea  6:6 (NKJ)

"For You do not desire sacrifice, or else I would give it; You do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart—These, O God, You will not despise."   Psalm 51:16-17 (NKJ)

The danger of mankind's pursuits to satisfy his own lusts are so high that Jesus Christ Himself gave a direct warning that so many seem content to disregard...

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon." Matthew 6:24 (NKJ)

"Merriam-Webster MAMMON Definition & Meaning

The meaning of MAMMON is material wealth or possessions especially as having a debasing influence."

Personally, I've won and lost much in the economy of men myself, so I understand the trap - having once been lured by monetary influence and gain myself. In my case, the Lord, knowing my heart for Him prior, was not content to lose the relationship that we shared and graciously took away everything except my family and left me without everything else that I had worked so hard for so long to gain. In fact, He touched everything that I'd grown to have pride in - even my own physical strength by a stroke out of the blue, and reminded me that all that I had grown prideful over was not achieved or gained in my own strength and that the gifts and talents that I had pridefully possessed came from Him. I took credit for it all and He crushed that luring spirit of gain and my pride and replaced it all with grateful contentment for whatever He provides daily. His provision is the source of everything that we actually need - and more as we're able to handle it without being spiritually injured by the "more". God cherishes hearts that love Him and He leads them to contentment in Himself as those hearts truly surrender to Him and to the currency of His economy. I personally am blessed by Him to have more than I truly need as I am content with what He allows.

"Now godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows."  1 Timothy6:6-10 (NKJ)

Just a reminder to be steady - food for thought as we wander through a world that largely ignores the truth ... AND the God who sovereignly dictates it.

"He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?" Micah 6:8 (NKJ)

“And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all His ways and to love Him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments of the Lord and His statutes which I command you today for your good? Indeed heaven and the highest heavens belong to the Lord your God, also the earth with all that is in it."  Deuteronomy 10:12-14 (NKJ)

An Observance And Observing True Reality...

As Easter approaches, I begin once again considering how our God sees our observance of an occasion as I always do and also what He might truly desire of us in observance above any of our trivial, man inspired traditions . What I come away with in firm conviction is the understanding that the most trivial of my sins, the least of my crimes against God, had the power to forever damn me in His judgment of me and send me into unending torment. And that knowing this one thing in truth and as reality, is key to my correct posture before God in honor of His purpose in the event. That key being the horror of knowing that the price of my very least sin was the shedding of my Christ Jesus' blood and His horrible suffering, because the reality of this brings the deep rending of my heart in awe and gratitude and it makes possible my true joy at the relief of my sentence because of what He has done. I believe this is a part of what God would desire from us in observance of Christ's death a...

The Real Power To Affect Change

I know that my position here may not be popular on it's face at first, but I think it could be most revealing of where some hearts are - even my own, by the response that it evokes... I think it's possible that we're all partly responsible for the chaos and darkness that is constantly swirling around in the digital tornado that is the constantly hammering news these days. While we may not have contributed to it directly by our own actions, it's a good bet that we may have contributed to it by our own inaction. Where does the true power to change things come from? And who is our best example to follow in this life? Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed." Mark 1:35 (NKJ) "Now it came to pass in those days that He went out to the mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God." Luke 6:12 (NKJ) "Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought ...

Judging, Judgment And Judge...

"I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark. I will not judge those who hear me but don’t obey me, for I have come to save the world and not to judge it. But all who reject me and my message will be judged on the day of judgment by the truth I have spoken. I don’t speak on my own authority. The Father who sent me has commanded me what to say and how to say it. And I know his commands lead to eternal life; so I say whatever the Father tells me to say.” John 12:46-50 (NLT) A lot is said these days about "judging", but in the midst of that popular societal buzz and the assertive comments that come with that conversation, I have a question: If God has called something sin and we simply agree with what He's said,... are we judging or just repeating and declaring the truth? When He walked the earth, Jesus spoke about judging and He pointed out the danger of our judging...  “Do not judge other...
