The Impact Of Our Focus

"Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created." Revelation 4:11 KJ

Until the reality and truth of God's message (truly a loving appeal) in scripture impacts the heart and mind of a person - penetrating through the fog of this temporary life and all of man's earthly business, the explosion of true understanding and growth can't truly take place, to root and forever change the trajectory of an eternal spirit that God created in His own image, toward the reward of Himself and true salvation.

We don't exist without purpose or design. In fact we were given life by by God's divine plan and design to serve the most honorable and holy purpose. What we do here in the haze and mist of this life has no meaning or worth unless it serves God's purpose. And that being true and holy, intimate relationship with Him in obedience. As with true, loving and fruitful human marriages, we find ourselves becoming more like Him in the most intimate relationship - consigning ourselves to seek the perfection of His Spirit by desire. All else in this life evaporates like a wisp of smoke in a strong wind before God's judgement and only those things done in compliance with the purpose for which we were created will remain to have any value or meaning - all else in this life is and was done in vain.

We might live under the illusion that this life is the one that we were created for, but that's a lie. And if that were true, one might spend their whole life looking for an illusive purpose or assigning one's self a carnal intention that decays with their flesh and dies with their outer shell - rotting with the memory of their place in history. God's purpose was and is for relationship with the eternal spirits that He's lovingly created with hope for that very fellowship.

"But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.”" John 4:23-24 (NLT)

"This is the written account of the descendants of Adam. When God created human beings, he made them to be like himself." Genesis 5:1 (NLT)

The truth is that we were created by God in His image, but I'm not persuaded to believe we were created in the image of His flesh, because as scripture says, God is spirit. So if we are in truth to be successful in this life, it's what we do in the realm of the spirit that supersedes any thing we do in the flesh. Our heart and submission in obedience to the God who created us is the only thing that really matters - both in this life and beyond. That has to be our focus above anything else or we fail our purpose and risk making ourselves worthless to our creation as eternal spirits. The Lord God has given us the freedom of choice and has told us what He expects us to do, so we choose our fate.

“Listen, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone. And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. Tie them to your hands and wear them on your forehead as reminders. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates." Deuteronomy 6:4-9 (NLT)

“And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you? He requires only that you fear the LORD your God, and live in a way that pleases him, and love him and serve him with all your heart and soul. And you must always obey the LORD’s commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good." Deuteronomy 10:12-13 (NLT)

"No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God." Micah 6:8

Many years ago, I was hundreds of miles away from my home working as a supervising foreman on a construction crew erecting portions of commercial buildings in northern California. We were loaded with work and always a little short handed on experienced crew, so there was always an interest in retaining skilled hands whenever possible. That usually wasn't an easy task because the work was always hard, hot and fast paced. It was the kind of work that tended to attract hard core personalities with some bad habits when hiring from the local labor pool in whatever area we happened to be working in at the time. Those of us who commuted from out of town would often stay in hotel rooms paid for by the company that we worked for and that would usually mean that the accommodations weren't always the best, but we learned to deal with it.  Being a little older than most of the crew and in a position of authority with the company meant that I would often have a room to myself while the othe

Diving Deeper: R-E-S-PE-C-T

“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the LORD.“And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts."  Isaiah 55:8-9 (NLT) I had a personal epiphany some years ago that changed the way that I approach God and the way that I've prayed since. It wasn't that I didn't already know the scriptures and eternal fact that my moment of further emerging clarity brought front and center into my thoughts. It was though as if the Holy Spirit pulled all of it together for me into a transforming moment of growth that required both my further submission and my trust to override some of my more visceral human urges when walking with Him through life here. The knee bending moment of illumination involved so much of what I'd learned and experienced over many years about and with our God, but centered on those two verses in Isaiah 55 and on

The Divine Courting

"They defiled themselves by their evil deeds, and their love of idols was adultery in the LORD’s sight. That is why the LORD’s anger burned against his people, and he abhorred his own special possession." Psalm 106:39,40 (NLT) "Idols" in the reality of God's perspective can be anything that we give more attention or value to than the God that created us for Himself. Given that He created us for Himself, that one relationship, or the lack of it between God and each of us, will rightly overshadow any and every other in importance in that moment of final judgment - just as it rightly should have from the moment that He first gave us breath. What's revealed in that final moment of God's examination of us and our hearts toward Him will be the defining moment of our eternal future. "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created."  Revelation 4:11 (KJ)
