We Will Abide ...

Sovereign Lord,

There is no horde or multitude at the height of their power that can prosper against you. No gathering of angels or fiercest beings that exist can withstand the withering power of your gaze. You have no worthy competitor or true challenger to your omnipotence. You have the power to give birth to amazing galaxies in the heavens and to make them vanish again at your will. Those things in the farthest reaches of the heavens obey you without hesitation and you are sovereign in your power to rule over all that exists. So who is mere man that you should regard him in any way let alone cherish him so highly? In spite of his unworthiness, in all of your works since you created all that we can see, you have made provision to sustain him in your humbling grace and mercy.

Yet among man's ancestry of the ages and even now, there are those who deny you. And with their words they seek to make you disappear like smoke in the wind or the morning mist in the presence of the rising sun. Yet it is you who is the mighty wind and you are the sun rising in measured patience to vanquish their falsehood. Your Spirit towers above all that exists in unyielding power, watching and waiting in holy patience. You are still God, omnipotent and unchanged. Their foolish lies deceive only themselves and those with hearts hardened against you and prone to listen to fantasy. How your anger must boil and your thirst for justice rise against them and others who do evil. How much more against those who work evil against your children?

The terror of your vengeance will no doubt be inconceivable to the mind of men and will be served hot and without delay at the time that you have appointed. Your great patience far exceeds the ability of our minds to comprehend and the extent of our own emotions to contain. Yet we ourselves were not without guilt when we acknowledged you. We were once subject also to that same wrath. By the smallest of our sins we were subject and companions with them to their fate.

By your compassionate choice alone, your grace truly undeserved, you made provision for our redemption to your heart. You made a pathway out of sure terror and certain death, one paved with your own suffering in our place. How mysterious you are Lord to the limited minds of men. How awesome and wonderful beyond our ability to fully grasp, let alone describe. In your majestic selflessness you have saved us. How can we respond?

By your grace, we can stand ...

Because of your grace, we now grow like desired tender flowers in a field of bristling thistles waiting for your harvest. The spirit of this world casts it's shadow over us threatening to rain down hail. We are surrounded by darkness, but stand in the light of your truth holding firmly to what you have spoken. We will stand firm in the knowledge of our future even while the enemy touts his victories. He may do what he can in his attempts to discourage us, but we will stand firm in you, our refuge. His greatest boasting is yet to come, but we know that his accomplishments will perish with him. Some of our brothers and sisters are felled in his murderous fury, others are taken at your appointed time and our hearts cry out for the loss of their company. But we also know the truth in our hearts, that they are still not overcome.

By your grace, we can serve ...

Faithful to your heart we will continue to pray with weeping for the hearts that you can see in your own anguish, those still waiting for redemption against the horror they can't see. You know the truth of men's hearts and know those who will yet come. They are the object of your unyielding patience and if we were in their place, would not knowingly hasten your judgment. Some will speak out the light of your truth into a world holding onto darkness. Some will rise up in the morning raising their hearts to you while girding for daily battle in your word to serve the love of your heart, their fellow man for whom you sacrificed so much.

By your grace, we can be honored to worship ...

All who truly know you, will praise you without ability to restrain their passion in the shadow of your greatness. And all who truly seek your heart will feel your compassion for those who grope in darkness. All who truly worship you with their lives will do so out of love and consider the groanings of your own heart. Our worship will not be made in mortal fear, but out of respectful reverence and awe soaked adoration. The offerings of our gratitude for your terrible suffering on our humble and undeserving part will not be diminished by our travels and we will worship you alone.

By your grace, we can abide ...

Our hearts with yours, we are made whole and the presence of your spirit abiding together fills the aching void while we wait for you, our bridegroom. In the presence of mortal death we will abide in faith to trust you and sing your praises in the face of the fiercest enemy. Some will abide quietly in patient prayer and knowing expectation for the fulfillment of your promise in a world that we no longer need. We will seek to increase our knowledge of your great and awesome character and marvel at your works, seeking to replicate the loving King of our desire. And by your merciful grace in sustaining hope unconquerable, we will abide ...

Where Truth Is Found...

"He that cannot forgive others, breaks the bridge over which he himself must pass if he would ever reach heaven; for everyone has need to be forgiven." - George Herbert, British Poet 1593 - 1633 The above is a true statement and one could give credit to George Herbert for his wisdom in that saying, but the truth and wisdom found in those words did not originate with him. They originated with The Author of truth and wisdom - The Judge of the universe... “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." Matthew 6:14-15 (NKJ) ...Christ Jesus. With deception being a tool of the enemy   and being spread  widely with the help of mankind these days, it's a struggle for some to recognize what the truth really is. It's good for us who follow Christ to remember that whatever we might think or reason with ourselves to be true, our opinion c...

Fear not.

There's a lot going on in the world and a lot available to provoke fear for the future, but I have a question for anyone who might feel themselves tempted to fear - If you truly know God, does He ever change? “I am the LORD, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed." Malachi 3:6 (NLT) We stand reinforced in our understanding and belief that He does not change, so... "The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me.  I will protect those who trust in my name.  When they call on me, I will answer;  I will be with them in trouble.  I will rescue and honor them.  I will reward them with a long life  and give them my salvation.” Psalm 91:14-16 (NLT) I know that I said that I had "a" question, but I actually have another - do you really, truly love Him? “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heave...

God Blesses Those...

"And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:... " Matthew 5:1&2 (NKJ) In the 5th chapter of the book of Matthew, we find Jesus teaching His disciples. What He taught them there is often referred to as the Sermon on the mount. And within that teaching are a number statements that are commonly referred to as The Beatitudes. I humbly suggest that whoever it was that coined that term might have been more accurate and to the point if they had called them  The " BE-  Attitudes" since Jesus was in fact telling His disciples both then and now, about the spirit of how to "be". “Blessed are the poor in spirit,  For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn,  For they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek,  For they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,  For they shall be filled. Blessed a...
