I think there are times when some of us might forget - overwhelmed by all of the evil and trying things in the world, why we're here and who we are if even just temporarily. But one thing I can assure you of, is that there's one who never does.
We might be brought to think of Him when called to worship or if we come across something or someone that spurs our thoughts toward Him, but He never has to be reminded of us or of what His heart desires and longs for from us - our love and attention. His heart waits, longing to hear us call out to Him ...
"Let me hear of your unfailing love each morning, for I am trusting you. Show me where to walk, for I give myself to you." Psalm 143:8 (NLT)
The sweet innocent laughter of a child - something that touches the heart of a loving parent deeply, is no less endearing to the heart of the divine Father. The tender sweet words of a faithful, selfless lover uttered with passion are no less impacting and profound to the heart of the divine and perfect Lover.
However, the pain of a neglected or rejected parent whose love and affection are spurned or ignored, is no less felt by the divine Father. And the heart rending rejection or neglect of a desiring lover is no less felt by the heart of the divine perfect Lover.
I've tried to express my belief that the Lord has set things up in a particular order in this life to mirror greater things in the unseen so that we can learn from them and come to experience the fruit of greater truths that exist beyond our physical realities in this life. For example, if you truly know God and you take some of the things experienced between a loving parent and their child and between married partners, you might find that there are some that reflect truths that exist in the spiritual realm also.
I think that perhaps God gives children in order for us to learn and understand the positive and negative things that can exist in a child/parent relationship -both the heartbreaking and the endearing. Likewise the marriage relationship for the same reason and then apply in proper context, those things that He brings to our attention toward our relationship with our God.
Father God's heart can be broken by many of the same things that break ours, as the perfect parent and the greatest lover of our hearts. Some of the things that stir our hearts passionately have the ability to stir His because of who He is and His role in our lives - keeping in mind that He is both holy and pure always. There is no greater heart that we could injure or even break by our indifference, neglect or defiance and no greater heart that we could love that could love us with such overwhelming passion.
But our God, being the gentleman that He is, will not force Himself on us, ... He leaves us the choice to return His passion or leave Him wanting.
"How lovely is your dwelling place, LORD Almighty! My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God. Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young— a place near your altar, LORD Almighty, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage. As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion. Hear my prayer, LORD God Almighty; listen to me, God of Jacob. Look on our shield, O God; look with favor on your anointed one. Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. For the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless. LORD Almighty, blessed is the one who trusts in you."
Psalm 84 (NLT)
We have emotions because He does and we were created in His image. We have the ability to know so many things about him both from scripture and experience in living relationship with Him and every day we know what we want and desire, but do we consider what He wants and what His heart yearns for? How do we measure up as a child and a true lover of His pure and loving heart? He's a forgiving God who stands waiting to embrace us as His children when we acknowledge and submit ourselves to Him.
How do you respond to His passionate love for you?
"No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God." Micah 6:8 (NLT)
