The ABCs Of Christian Survival And Growth - Remember To Check Your GPS Connection!

Over the past weeks, you may have noticed that there have been a lack of posts to this blog. I have to confess that I came to a point where I began to question whether my writing, along with other things, was becoming a performance that I felt obligated to maintain or whether I was still allowing the Holy Spirit the freedom to lead. So I've taken some time out - not just from this part of my life but from some other very worthy activities as well to submit these things to the Lord and ask some questions: Lord, though I know these things are good and that they bless your heart, are they what you really want me to be doing or have I made assumptions because of their worthiness? I felt led to participate in them at some level in the beginning, but am I continuing now because my flesh likes routine? Because it's become expected by others? Or am I still following your leading? Was your intention for me to participate only for a moment or for the duration? Where am I?

I found myself so exhausted and busy trying to keep keeping up with good things. I suddenly realized that I was so busy, that my quiet time with our Lord was suffering. It felt like there was something wrong. I was beginning to feel my freedom restricted and scripture tells us clearly that there is freedom in Him. Because of this, I wasn't so sure that I was heading in the direction that the Lord was leading. I'd become so busy, that I hadn't taken the time to check my GPS (God's Precious Spirit) connection lately and began to worry. There's a difference between assuming that we know where we are and knowing where we are according to His perspective and desire. A difference between assuming that we should be involved in things because we know that they're worthy activities and being in submission to the leading of the Holy Spirit. I've experienced both and I'm keenly aware that without question, "life" is to be found where the Spirit leads. Having seen my life in the past, the enemy must have been laughing at that moment because he's seen my tendency to be an over achiever and what it's done to me in the past. So seizing the moment, he of course hurled some things into my path to make it even more interesting. But what he still doesn't seem to get, is the fact that I'm not wavering or unsteady in my relationship with my Lord these days and that I'm now well aware that my flesh is my greatest weakness so I watch for it. However I may have responded in the past, I now go to my one source for relief - my Heavenly Father. My confidence is no longer in myself, but in the Holiness of our Master who has a tremendously tender heart for us.

You're probably wondering why I'm telling you all of this. Perhaps just as a reminder that whoever you are, and however far you may have traveled in relationship with our Lord, the enemy never stops looking for opportunities to try to waylay you. He just gets more discreet and crafty. He's an opportunist. And that until the Lord comes to claim us, we're still struggling like the Apostle Paul against our weakness. So if we want to experience the fullness of "life" that our Lord desires for us, we have to make sure that whenever we're moving, we're moving to follow His leading and not making assumptions about where we should be going. There's only one perfect vantage point from which to see the different paths that He's chosen for each of us and it's His perspective. He can see what we can't and it's only by following His leading that we're each able to navigate the particular path that he's marked out specially for each of us. It's only by the leading of GPS (God's Precious Spirit) that any individual has the ability to successfully travel through this life experiencing all that He intended and planned specifically for us. All of His paths lead to Him, but for each of us He has plans and desires that pertain to us individually - paths that contain knowledge and experiences that He knows we need and through which He intends to meet the needs of others. So check your GPS connection frequently to make sure that you're connected and where you should be - it's the only way to know. If you don't think you have GPS capability, you're mistaken. Our Creator provided each of us with it as standard equipment. You just may not have used it before. If so, get on your knees and in touch with the manufacturer. Turn it on and experience "Life". If you want to continue to experience "life" and always have the confidence that you're where you should be according to His plan for you, remember to check your GPS connection and position frequently!

Where Truth Is Found...

"He that cannot forgive others, breaks the bridge over which he himself must pass if he would ever reach heaven; for everyone has need to be forgiven." - George Herbert, British Poet 1593 - 1633 The above is a true statement and one could give credit to George Herbert for his wisdom in that saying, but the truth and wisdom found in those words did not originate with him. They originated with The Author of truth and wisdom - The Judge of the universe... “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses." Matthew 6:14-15 (NKJ) ...Christ Jesus. With deception being a tool of the enemy   and being spread  widely with the help of mankind these days, it's a struggle for some to recognize what the truth really is. It's good for us who follow Christ to remember that whatever we might think or reason with ourselves to be true, our opinion c...

Fear not.

There's a lot going on in the world and a lot available to provoke fear for the future, but I have a question for anyone who might feel themselves tempted to fear - If you truly know God, does He ever change? “I am the LORD, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed." Malachi 3:6 (NLT) We stand reinforced in our understanding and belief that He does not change, so... "The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me.  I will protect those who trust in my name.  When they call on me, I will answer;  I will be with them in trouble.  I will rescue and honor them.  I will reward them with a long life  and give them my salvation.” Psalm 91:14-16 (NLT) I know that I said that I had "a" question, but I actually have another - do you really, truly love Him? “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heave...

God Blesses Those...

"And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying:... " Matthew 5:1&2 (NKJ) In the 5th chapter of the book of Matthew, we find Jesus teaching His disciples. What He taught them there is often referred to as the Sermon on the mount. And within that teaching are a number statements that are commonly referred to as The Beatitudes. I humbly suggest that whoever it was that coined that term might have been more accurate and to the point if they had called them  The " BE-  Attitudes" since Jesus was in fact telling His disciples both then and now, about the spirit of how to "be". “Blessed are the poor in spirit,  For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn,  For they shall be comforted. Blessed are the meek,  For they shall inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,  For they shall be filled. Blessed a...
